Thinking back Matt i had a similar problem, the charger i had was had an output but wasnt charging my battery, it was the lead between the jack plug and the battery, the rotax charger has a green light on it which goes amber when the battery is low and draws a large current from it, when the battery becomes charges and draws less current the light returns to green, the charger then maintenance charges the battery, the light stays green, if you do need to buy a new battery charger, buy the optimate 4, they are very good, i have a smart car charger here its output for fast car battery charging is 7.5 amp and low output gel batteries at 1.6 amp.
