Matt, don't worry too much. The Rotax engine is phenomenally reliable (I have a fleet of 30 of them running in junior spec and have had 200 hours plus on some of them) and the advice you have been given is pertty much spot on.

It's very steep learning curve but you'll find tonnes of friendly advice for beginners and you'll have loads of fun.
