One tip that may help when you get working ign ok is to minmise vibration which i think is the major cause of failiure with these boxes,we started to use cable ties to anchor box to battery box with a rubber spacer in between after this we stopped having boxes fail.
Also other high failiure area is the 3 & 4 pin plug sockets, try continuity testing the wiring.
