Its not just the rear bumpers, its the enveloped bodywork as a whole.

Why not revert to 80s style karts - drivers didn't touch wheels because they were well aware of the consequences ! If that type of 'admonishment' for a contact infraction is a little politically incorrect these days, then keep the bodywork and make it extremely brittle so that when it comes into contact with something else, it shatters. Anybody with broken bodywork gets black-flagged. It will prepare kartists for wings/slicks single seaters, keep the trade happy with new sales and put an end to the banger racing we currently have.
