Alternatively, save your new tyres for qualifying and then pull the pin. We've raced on Dunlop, vega, Maxxis and two compounds of Bridgestone Cadet tyres.

All of them give an advantage when new, Dunlop and Maxxis least. But never seen much difference from heat cycling etc.
