Simon, as you have said you are just starting out, go with Ian's advice regarding chassis and tyres. Best thing to do, is get your bum in the seat with basic settings and practice, practice, practice.....

When you are setting consistent laptimes within a few tenths of each other, then you have to start looking at where you will get the extra time, different wheels, axles, seats etc etc etc...

Copy other peoples setups initially and theres plenty of info on here for your chosen steed. As you get used to the kart you may find something totally different that suits the way YOU drive.
