You can use fuel line but it is not the best. Over time fuel line will become softer and then when the engine creates the vacuum which operates the fuel pump the outer walls of the fuel line can start to flex which will result in less pull to operate the fuel pump.
A good alternative is the black diesel fuel line you can get at motor factors, this has a very strong, outer sleeve which won't flex and will give you the best performance.
