The answer to your question regarding running a Tryton with the low jet at 1 3/4 turns is that you are likely to encounter the folowing -

1, No idle
2, Bogging out of the corners
3, Four stroking at high revs
4, Very low running temps

I would say that if you need to run that much low jet you have either got the high jet way too far in or the carb needs stripping and rebuilding.

The high jet wants to be between 55 and 65 mins, the other thing to be careful of is that there are 2 types of jet needles and they have slightly different tappers on them therefore the settings differ.
