We regularly test 'blind' with our kids. It's part of the training for them not only to be able to ask for set up changes they think will improve the kart, but also pinpoint why the kart is different when we make a change without telling them.

Of course it can be difficult to find a day when the track conditions are not changing faster than you can change the set-up, even if you have the track to yourself. But in my experience, when we were going fast, very slowly, with 5 HP GX120's it was possible to see and feel the difference of very small changes to the kart. These differences only become apparent though when you are searching for minute amounts of time and spending hours in the seat testing, and or competing at a high level.

The faster the karts get the more difficult it becomes to feel the smaller changes, doesn't mean the differences aren't there, it just takes a better more experienced and more motivated driver to find the limit. Thus I doubt we would see the difference now, in the lower level we currently compete at.
