We always clean our tyres after a race. We have done back to back testing and it is definately worth the work.

The MSA seem to take a pragmatic approach. So provided you don't turn up at the grid with hot tyres then they turn a blind eye.

S1 is difficult though. It's best to practice without cleaning on Friday and Saturday as you are not allowed to clean them for qualifying and racing.....By the end of the weekend the build up can be incredible as we race with SKF, KF2 & KF3 with their very soft tyres. You can use a manual scraper but it never works too well...I just switch tyres from left to right after each race to even the loading of rubber.

It's like driving through thick mud....that's when the big money engines help a lot.
