Liam - I raced TKM for 12 years (now in 125 ICC), and rebuilt my own engines for about 7 of them. I never had an engine seize due to knakered seals, only due to a piston ring locating peg coming out, and a snapped con-rod. I never replaced seals between rebuilds (6 - 8 hours), and they'll go a long way further than that (look up 'club 100' karts). Obviously sloppy crank journals may not help with wear, but I've run a couple of them too and still had no problems. Beware the paddock BS. I'm not saying its wrong to replace them often, but I am saying that replacing them every meeting is in no way a necessity. Good luck
