If you still want to split the head from the barrel make sure you tighten the four M8 brass nuts back up before you undo the M6 allen bolts. If you don't take the tension off the allen bolts you may well strip the threads in the barrel.

Correct sequences are:-
To remove head slacken the allen bolts before you slacken the brass nuts.
To replace head tighten the brass nuts first then tighten the allen bolts
