If it's the new OTK caliper, the pedal should feel absolutely rock solid and have about an inch of pedal movement, max.

If there is air in the system it is difficult to control braking as it is like having a spring under your foot.

If you are using genuine OTK pads £40.00 approx then it should work ok.

Try deglazing the disk with some 40 grit aluminium oxide paper and lightly abrade the pads using the same stuff.

Your profile doesn't say where you are.

If the pedal is spongy, then you will need to bleed the system.
