Well they use the msa's blue book from last year as a "GUIDE" to regulations. But you dont need to have the "SEAL" in place. You can wear your bike helmet which is plenty good enough to still use. You can repair your old style clutches as they seem to recognise you will get no performance gains from a replacement pin. You can run any chassis even with old type diagonal bars, so no need to keep up with the trends. I would say just there's a few things that make it more customer friendly. Not every one wants to pay for a rebuild and seal if they want to race for fun. Each to their own or course, but im not going to cough up the best part of £500 to be able to race msa (new clutch, helmet, medical, licence)to basically end up racing in a smaller grid for the same prize...A £10 plastic trophy!
I never claimed it was fairer but as a club racer if the next guy wishes to grease his clutch or use tyre softener to beat me then I WISH HIM WELL! If he needed that £10 trophy that much..... Like i said we dont have to race the "SEAL" so who's to say "that quick bloke last meeting" never had his engine tickled by stan stephens???? But again if he did then good luck to him. I will have had another good day out without being treated like a criminal by the stewards if i have accidently crossed the dreaded white line during the race.
