Depends on the dyno, the operator, temperature, atmopheric conditions and the correction factors.
An honest (to themselves as well) operator will be able to tell you how your engine compares with others. But an engine builder is unlikely to ever tell you that your engine is c**p after they have just rebuild it, are they?
Having said that, I'm a great believer in the power of suggestion and thus dyno results, if you know you have a good strong engine or think you do, it makes it a lot easier to chase the time elsewhere rather than making excuses.
Even for kids and relative novices, especially in classes where their is lots of 'engine talk', it can make an enormous difference to the motivation of the driver.
