Morning Brian and Happy New Year. The diagram on the RHS indicates that dimension "A" and "D" are one and the same. Dimension "D" is whats known as the intermediate taper diameter and should in fact be shown at the top of dimension "E". As John correctly points out, this is not only an error on this pdf but on several of the available data sheets.
