If the brake disc is warped it can 'walk' the carrier across the axle.
It can help to loosed the six bolts on the disc, tighten the hub then retighten the disc.
More likely is it is your axle moving though.
Regarding the power valve, was this stuck in the slot or is it not free to slide when you press on the piston?
If you can clarify that, we can help more.
The power valve must be kept clean of carbon deposits and I use a Scotchbrite and WD409.
The blade must be parallel and in line with the fixing bolt holes when you re fit it and the hole in the gasket must line up with the hole in the valve body.
Give a bit more info to save our guesswork..
