wow seems like a mine field!!! the end float is as you described and seems ok. Could the play in the cover be as simple as tightening the nut that holds it all on... sorry for seeming so dumb but dont want to brake any thing!! are you at rye on sunday as im heading down there to a buy a battery as the orignal one didnt survive.....
