Hi, great infor from Alan on the clutch housing. We were racing yesterday and noticed play in our old style clutch housing. Managed to get it off and found both the big lock nut lose and the bearing shot. Replaced bearing and tightened nut and fine. My question, is please.... You mentioned thrust washer behind the clutch cover. From memory, I can't recall there being one on ours when we took it off ? We just had the bearing,clutch cover and a washer between the outside of the clutch cover and the final nut that hold the cover to the crank. whats the impact of running without a thrust washer and should it be between the needle bearing and clutch cover ?
