Your first post was half right, the level hole was to check the gearbox oil level for the original 50ml of oil when using the plastic gear set, this hole cannot now be be used for the new oil quantity of 100ml for the steel gear set.

So for the new steel gear set drain all the oil out using the lower hole and fill the gearbox with 100Ml of fresh oil.
