This is as very confusing thread, first I thought Alan was talking about his cat and now Greg has raised the issue of the 'O' rings which seal the connection.

If it is the old style tank then it could be the 'O' rings need replacing but if it is the new style tank then it is likely to be the metal to plastic joint - to test which problem you have just spray some WD40 around the connection and blow down the overflow pipe just as you would to blow some fuel up and you will see the air bubbles around the leak location.
