More Ackerman gives more grip on the front, particularly on initial turn-in to a corner. The reason for this is complex, but I will try an explanation:
You will notice that when you turn the steering on your kart, the outside front wheel lifts up and the inside front wheel drops down. This is due to the effect of castor angle. You will also notice if you look closely, that the inside wheel drops more than the outside wheel lifts. This is because of the influence of the kingpin inclination. The more Ackerman (either on the steering column spade or the stub axle arms) you use, the more exaggerated this effect will be, and the more this will allow the inside rear wheel to lift up and overcome the tendency for the kart to plough straight on due to the lack of a differential rear axle.
