Thankyou for your replies gents, always an interesting read!! I use the Jet-tech software and find it to be very useful and a good guide. However it does seem to make good engineering sense that if the software recommends a particular jet size that the one you put in the carb is of the correct size. My plan is to go and raid my friendly suppliers jet draw and sit there for an hour going through his stock of jets and pulling out the most accurate one's. As for getting them machined to the correct size, it would just be a pain, pin gauges much easier!! Might even publish the results of my measuring session once the gauges arrive.
