I heard that running the engine for that period of time will damage the internals, and cause the need for a rebuild (I do sprint racing as well, and don't want to wreck my only engine).

Biland Racer 9, you have made the mistake of making incorrect assumptions. I have no money to waste, and the racing we do is on a strict budget. This year we will be racing in Super 1 for almost certainly less money than anybody else. I cannot see how we could possibly do it for a penny less and still be competitive.
