The answer to your question is No....... and YES depending on who you are and how big is your budget.

From standard, they are 'off the shelf' with any old bit going with any other bits. You may WELL be lucky and get a motor that, simply by chance' is a BEAUTIFUL motor that all fits perfectly by sheer luck. You might ALSO be unlucky and get the motor made from the WORST possible parts. You'll never know until you try running it. The chances of either of those two extreme options is VERY low!

However, there would be a market for a motor where the best bits from a batch of (let's guess) 20 engines and all the spares boxes at a specific engine tuner's workshop were all put together into one (potentially) SUPER engine. Those sort of engines used to be called a 'selected motor'. If the parts were selected as being the 'best' at the actual FACTORY, then they bwere 'factory selected motors'.

Now, if a 'basic' engine was offered to you with another option of a 'selected motor' made from the 'best' parts.... would you want THAT motor or the standard one? If the 'selected motor' cost £100 more.... would you pay that extra? How about £1,000 more.... how much would you pay if you had money to burn and you thought your kid was the next Ayrton Senna?

You can see the idea, I am sure....
