I, for one, applaud your logical and 'evidence based' views. Similar views are lacking in karting....

However, you say 'the thermostat is like a small car one and will fail in the open position... ' (paraphrased)... Over the years, I must have replaced HUNDREDS of car thermostats, both of the 'in-pipe' and the 'in housing' variety, the vast majority of which have failed in the CLOSED position. It just depends on what fails within them. We must have seen different failures.....
