I still think that 108KG is too high when you consider that a bare chassis + engine may weigh only 80 odd Kg. There are limitations to how much lead you can place in one place I thinks its 4Kg and how much you can put around the seat is limited. In theory a 40Kg driver with helmet can race in JuniorMax with over 20Kg of lead-
I won't be volunteering to help lift it!
The MSA should make a simple rule: the driver should not be under half the weight of the kart for a given class. so for junior max the minimum driver weight should be 49Kg(excluding lead lined rib protector!)
There is a trend that the moment they hit their teens they go up to Juniormax- either only staying in Minimax for a year or going straight from Cadet.
