How does a floating sprocket carrier work / is attached etc and are you restricted to which chassis they are allowed on in cadets ?

I recently overheard two dads extolling their virtues (in somewhat hushed tones !) but have been unable to find out any useful info since.

(note to self - must stop earwigging other people's conversations on the dummy grid..!)
