ok so today i tested a new engine that i bought (not new 11 but new for me...) anyway i put my 12.5 carb which i know works really well on my 09 engine. i went out on the kart and the engine seemed good until i got to the main straight...my engine would not pull past 12500 revs when usually on my 09 i would get 13800 - 140000 by the end of the straight...however the weird thing is when i then went around turn 1 and 2 and down the second straight (2nd longest) the engine seemed to pick up bearing in my the corner before the straight you are carrying around 11-12000rpm it would then reach 13300 which is normal. it seemd to be any straight that went up the circuit as opposed to down the engine would not rev properly. I tried changing everything including;

- a different powervalve and played with the settings
- spark plug from my other engine
- ht lead from other engine
- coil from other engine
- new fuel pump kit
- checked all the pipes for any shortage of fuel
- re built my carb again (after an ultra sonic clean last night)
- stopping the airbox from rattling about
- making sure enough fuel was in the tank (to eliminate any fuel surge)

the weather then turned for the worst and it went wet i tried changing to my not as good carb the 8.5 and it seemed like the engine pulled through the rev rang alot better and it did reach over the 12500 and there was no flat spots.

can anyone shed any light on this because all day i have tried to solve this and only right at the end the other carb seemed to make a difference. Why would my carb decide not to work? is it because its a different engine (i get it might not suit the engine as well but i would of thought it would still pull through the normal rpm and not have any flat spots) and also why did it only happen in one direction (there wasnt much wind)

i even had a super one guy looking at it who was not able to see why it was acting this way!

:/

Dave
