We have been caught in the age trap. We currently carry about 7-8 kgs lead to race junior and will have to add 14kg more to race seniors.
Simply put:
1. after all the grief over junior weight 'on safety grounds' last year this change seems bizarre. In theory you can miss juniors out completely as seniors has no minimum weight.
2. not sure where you get to put the lead-but we will work it out.
3. We have invested time and money matching junior kit - to run a single year - certainly not helpful to those with limited resources
4. If a kart overturns can the marshalls lift/draft a kart quickly with this weight without either hurting themselves or a driver underneath?
5. will it stop us trying seniors- no. But we will review if we are not competitive due to the weight.
6. Driver has spent a year at gym with supervision and diet advice and weight is going on at the correct pace. we will not change this to increase weight quicker.

Weight and age are not a good mix and is difficult to get right. The only thing I would have changed would be to match european rules and give 2 years notice rather than this first move or give the age to seniors until 2015. This way there is plenty of time to make arrangements.
