Got a phone call from my engine builder and guess what it's NOT my big end bearing. My bottom end is in good nick.
Apparently part of the ignition system behind the fan has broken off causing it to lock up the engine. Some of the magnets had worked loose so it needs a replacement ignition system. He also found a damaged piston and ring so needs a new piston. My engine builder has a good used ignition system but it still needs a new piston.
My other engine has a damaged bottom end needing a new conrod and bearings. My engine builder has a good used crank and conrod and thinks this my be the cheapest option.
My question is as follows.
Is it worth repairing and sealing both engines.
Even using used parts it's going to cost nearly Ł300 for both.
I didn't pay a lot for my outfit but is is financially worth while or should I look out for another engine.
My engine builder says both engines are very good and worth repairing and buying another used engine could also prove risky.
