Ideally, you have four sets of bathroom scales. You can easily do it with just 2 sets. by placing a plank on top of one of your scales and placing the kart's front tyres on one plank and the rears on the other. Make sure the planks weigh the same...... of course.

You can get bathroom scales staggeringly cheaply from ASDA, Argos, etc.. They sell for about a fiver a set!

You can even do it with 1 set of scales where you measure the height of the sales, make a block of wood the same thickness as the scales and mount the plank on that. Pre-weigh yourself on the kart (wearing all you kit) and work out what (for example) 40% of that weight is..... and that's what the single set of scales should show when mounted under the front tyres.

You'll also note that you can do it with 3 sets of scales..... work that out for yourselves.... it's simple!

Others have suggested finding a thick round pole (e.g., a strong piece of tubing or gas pipe) with the diameter thicker than the gap between the floor and the underside of the kart. This only works where the seat does NOT protrude below the chassis..... seats shouldn't unless you are long-bodied...... or very fat!

You now place the kart with that pole under the chassis in a side to side direction. The kart will 'teeter' identically to the front of rear when you place it under the centre of gravity. You now measure (inches or mms etc.) the distance between the front and rear axle centres. Now measure the distance from that pole to the front axle and THAT should be 60% of the length of the 'wheelbase' if you want 40:60 distribution.

I've never tried that method but it works, I am told.

Do remember to do this on a flat, horizontal floor. At least ensure that the front sets of scales and the rear sets of scales are a match (same make and model). Finally, inflate the tyres to the same pressures on a single axle and use a new set of tyres so the diameters are identical. Old tyres will be worn unevenly.

Hope this helps

Ian
