Whether any customer has a claim against this guy is going to be a matter for each individual driver (or parent).

Some might have it all very clearly documented, but most probably not.

As I've suggested earlier, one of the lessons is that if the ABkC prepares a "standard" form of contract for this sort of work (it would need to deal with concerns that engine builders have too), then there would be far less doubt.

Those engine builders that choose to adopt the standard would attract business from those that don't (in theory!). Engines from builders that choose not to adopt the standard would naturally attract greater scrutiny.
