I used to build engines for others, I was never a full blown engine tuner as such, but my legal engines won several championships over a few years. However it was my experience that over half my customers asked if I could provide them with an unfair advantage and actively wanted to cheat in one way or another, to help make little Johnie look better than he was. I also found that 60% of engines that came to me were already non conforming.

Okay this wasn't in the UK, but with such small differences and so much money involved it's clear to anybody who wants to see that the entire sport is riddled with inconsistencies, vested interest and yes outright cheats.
