As said previously you can maximise your port timing in this way and have a crank out a few thou and its a waste of time. His engines weren't winning and anyone who thinks this mod is the answer is shooting themselves in the foot.

The problem with allowing metal removal on ports in the future is how do you police it. Scrutineering at club level in my experience can be a restrictor check, a dome check, fuel check, port dimension check. I have seen many combinations checked from all of these to one or two of these to none and told to go after a wiegh in.

The anodising is a quick way of checking no metal has been removed. You can machine heads and tops of liners so there is some scope for maximising what you have.

You will have exactly the same thing happen if you allow metal removal from ports to fiche. Your still relying on an element of honesty from everyone that they are not removing too much metal.

I am fed up of hearing drivers who are miles off the pace complaining of there engines when in reality they have overlooked lots of other things that make them quick. Its not just about engines.

A good example was a post on here a while back when this was being bandied about. One guy described two engines as one being crap and one being good yet there was less than a tenth in them. So they where both good engines in my mind. Even with the current variances in tolerance there is not as much difference as people think in these engines.

All in my opinion of course.
