Is there an easy (and legal) way to clean the carbon off the inside of an exhaust.

We are reasonably new to TKM and have heard tell of people buying new exhausts after 6 months just to avoid carbon build up.

Being a tight jock, I dont want to incur uneccessary expense so any advice will be gratefully recieved
