Thanks Simon. The battery is the original Lipo supplied by Talko along with their recommended charger. I've been very careful with the battery to keep it from getting knocked around as I know this can cause problems. Someone else at the track has had problems with the control relay failing meaning the starter motor is constantly engaged. I wonder if the relay might have failed whilst driving round the track, causing the starter motor to constantly draw current. It shouldn't cause the battery to overheat but there is nothing else drawing current. There is no recharging taking place and no current normally drawn whilst driving.
