Maxis Wets - scrubbing in?

It's been a while since I had new wets on our TKM.
I seem to remember hearing that Maxis wets almost need to be scrubbed in in almost dry weather for just 3 or 4 laps to take the harder outer off.
Is that right?
New wets arriving later today, heading off to Rowrah this evening.
