I'm surprised to hear such negative comments about x30. Before I continue, we are in JTKM so no axe to grind either way. We have friends who chose the Rotax route and another who went JX30. Maybe the x30 guys got lucky but, they have one service a year and finished top 10 in S1. Engine was straight out of the box. They have had their fair share of electrical problems which seem to manifest themselves in the wet and I believe this year's update solved some problems but introduced others. So electrical problems, yes, but re engine parity and service costs, their experience has been very positive.
