look at this thread - http://www.karting.co.uk/notice/Message.asp?FID=2&MsgID=0000370183 - it's exlplained how to clean it using a barbecue, I've used caustic soda before, and only on a TKM end an and it only just did that! so i doubt an exhaust could be done with caustic soda. Hope this helps =)
