Thanks to you all for your replies.
My son did say that he was having to turn the wheel more than he did on the old chassis which would suggest understeer to me but at the time, we were at full stiffness all round. We did alter the front torsion bar but never got chance to try it due to rain and time constraints - this is what we are going to try next time out.
I will tell you one thing that utterly amazed me which was a change in tyres; we had some very fresh SL6's on that were giving us laps in the 48's, we changed to some very old YGB's and were straight in the 46's with NO other changes!
I expected 0.5 sec difference but not nearly 2 seconds!
Might try Vega Whites next time...
