Whilst I accept the rule about producing a licence I think Cosgrove may have a point when the club has your licence details and has seen the licence previously. The main trouble with this is that the club would have to keep a record of the fact that they have seen the licence so more hassle for them - fine system is probably best!
The credit card type of licence we now have does not show points so simply looking at it when signing on does not really give any additional information.
I don't know how the CoC puts points on your licence or how these are checked at a meeting to ensure that your points total does not mean a ban (just lucky maybe not to have been issued with points).
We have always had to show our licence when signing on for race day but can not remember having to show a valid club membership card when racing at a track where we are not members!
