What about electrical interference from the ignition and associated components? You mention that it occurs at about 12k rpm, this would be when the ht activity is high and rising. Route the temperature cable well away from any other cable and try that. I am not familiar with Mycrons but I find it very unlikely that an engine would register temperature spikes like you describe. Temperature sensors react faily slowly to change so check connections too.
