If you could stretch it to Ł1200 then I would say that it is an ideal figure to start off with.

Kart with engine, trolly, alfano, starter = Ł650-Ł900.

License - can't remember the price but say Ł100

Helmet - Ł200

Suit - Ł100

Boots and Gloves - Ł65-Ł80

Race weekend including race/practise fee's, 2 stroke, maintenance = Ł200

If you got some really good deals and were super careful on what you spend during a race weekend then you could save a few hundred quid off that lot but it wouldn't be easy.
