# has the engine always been the same, regards the overheating/loss of power?
# is the clutch ok or overheating?
if we can discount the above then ...

The loss of power could either be due to insufficient cooling(your flushing should have helped so further checks necessary) - which would suggest checking water pump impellor/water pump itself/water pump drive poor.

If water pump/drive ok then water leaks or blockages are all that is left.

or
The heat is exceptional and the water cooling is not able to cope. This could be because of main bearing failure generating heat(showing as excessive play at the crankshaft)or a nipped conrod caused by insufficient thrust clearance during assembly of rod and crank.
