Worth talking with Russel but if you get an exchange set or a refund this is more likely to be as a good-will gesture.
We see quite a few posts on this forum about a bad set of tyres. Some are just down to ols stock but you do get the odd ones that just do not work as well. Some will be a fraction quicker but that is part of the reason for the tyre draw and it is pot luck which set you get.
At a S1 round two years ago a lot of the grid had problems with the slicks after just one practice session - the canvas started showing through.
It was so bad that the officials had to allow all competitors to use their own tyres - just had to get a set stamped up. This obviously was not ideal as some had newish tyres with them but a couple of drivers had not bought any with them and had to borrow.
At the next round we all got a free replacement set.
Similar think happened to us in S1 at Shenington last year when a front and rear tyre showed canvas. Another driver had this on all four tyres. We had to buy replacements and the supplier showed very little interest - just a case of tyres having to go back to Dunlop and refund only if they agreed the tyres were faulty. As I expected - never heard back from the supplier! Messed up our final as we had brand new tyres one side and run-in ones on the other.
Just one of those frustrating times in racing.
