Yes that's correct Chris. The way I understand it is that the old barrels were cast but the new ones are machined which means that they are manufactured to a much greater accuracy. The thing is though that they are accurate to the original measurements. This means there is a possibility that you will find an older cast barrel that is slightly out of the measurements due to the accuracy not being as good but still within the legal measurements and these barrels could actually prove to be better.

So to put it basically the new machined barrels guarantee that you will get a very good engine and all the new barrels are pretty much equal but there is a chance that there will be older cast barrels that will prove to be slightly quicker.
