Facemiester, we had a similar thing with ours so I bought a tap and a bleed nipple that was the next size up, tapped it out, fitted the new nipple then bled the system. If you are not confident in doing this, I would suggest you take it to your local garage/engineering establishment and get them to do it - it shouldn't cost a fortune. Once you have the bleed nipple fixed you will be able to bleed the system properly.
There is no easy solution to this, please ensure it is done properly as this is YOUR safety you are dealing with.
