To make my exhaust fit flush and square with the engine i need to move the engine back. My sprocket is 87 and i want to fit a 84 so i need a shorter chain?

Can i shorten my chain or do i have to buy new? How do i work out how long chain to get?

Also seen a few ebay sprockets and chain. What are they like? I know they prob are not great for MSA pro racing but are they going to be ok for someone like me who is just racing low budget and just for a bit of fun?
