"The new style liners are easy to identify because when the liner is placed in the upright position as it would be fitted on an engine the TKM logo is now machined in a horizontal postion rather than cast in a vertical position... But note it is never permitted to remove a liner from its barrel."

This was taken from the 2009 regulations and technical guide issued by tal-ko.

I'm not sure how you can tell just by looking at a built up engine. Is there a way of identifying this? Engines after a certain number (65**ish)would have been supplied with the new barrel but how do you know if a new barrel had been fitted to an older engine?
